Seoul Airport suspends flights due to trash balloons from North Korea

Incheon International Airport, Seoul’s main airport, suspended international and domestic flights due to balloons flying from North Korea to South Korea. The agency reports that Yonhap.

After one of the balloons landed on the runway, Incheon management decided to close the airport out of fear that the balloons might hit the aircraft engines.

In this context, the airport did not provide flight service between 1:46 and 4:44 local time on June 26 (19:46 – 22:44 Moscow time on 25 June). Flights started operating according to the usual schedule from 07:00 local time (01:00 Moscow time).

North Korea on the night of June 26 started More than 250 balloons carrying garbage set out for South Korea; This was the sixth such incident since the end of last month. About 100 balloons, mostly containing waste paper, landed in Seoul and northern Gyeonggi province.
