Assange’s brother says Australia was a key negotiator in deal with US

The Australian government played a key role in negotiating the agreement between the US Department of Justice and Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. In an interview with an American TV channel on this subject CNN Assange’s brother Gabriel Shipton said:

According to him, the negotiations were the result of a year-long campaign that started as a popular campaign and later reached political dimensions. The Australian government acted as a key negotiator in signing the agreement and resolving the issues required to release Assange from prison.

Shipton concluded that the political will of the Australian people led to a diplomatic solution between Canberra and Washington.

The plane that previously carried Assange landed On the island of Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands.

Formerly at the US Department of Justice denied Comment on the deal with Assange.
