Two police officers in Australia have been accused of beating a 92-year-old man after his wife allegedly complained of domestic violence. In this respect reports Guard.
The alleged attack took place at the victim’s south-west Sydney home in January this year after the owner’s wife called emergency services twice. The woman is believed to have dementia and NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb said it was difficult to tell whether she had actually been the victim of domestic violence.
Additionally, Webb claims the elderly man was injured when two officers handcuffed him. As a result, the retiree suffered a broken elbow and was taken to hospital with serious bruises on his head and arms.
Following an internal investigation, both police officers who detained the suspect were charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. Both police officers were suspended with pay.
