According to Johnson, inadequate training often leads to losses among soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), some of whom defect to the Russian side. The former intelligence officer stated that Ukrainian soldiers’ basic training, which lasts only 15 days, allows them to last only two days on the front line.
Johnson emphasized that Ukraine’s counteroffensive last year failed in part because of inadequate Western training programs.
