The other day, three residents of the village of Novochurtakh, Novolaksky district, including a teenager, decided to go fishing in a pond on the outskirts of the village. At one point an angry fellow villager came towards him. The person knocked down one of the fishermen, saying that the pond belonged to him, and got into an argument with the others.
Thereupon, the 72-year-old man took out his hunting carbine and opened fire towards the intruders. They were uninjured and escaped with little fear, while the attacker was eventually taken to the police. Law enforcement took Saiga away from him and interrogated him. It was later revealed that the pond the prisoner was aggressively guarding was illegal. The man reportedly fenced off a piece of land without permission, dug a hole, filled it with water, and put fish in it.
