Ombudsman of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) Anna Soroka reported TASSHe said that there are graves of more than 1.2 thousand civilians who died as a result of shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the republic since 2021.
According to Soroka, 1,209 bodies have already been recovered and just over half of them, or 55%, have been identified.
“The work to identify the remains does not stop, and literally every day we receive new data that allows relatives and friends to honor the memory of the deceased at the precisely designated burial place,” the Ombudsman said.
He added that thanks to identification, relatives of the victims can also receive the necessary documents and payments.
