The Moscow Meshchansky District Court sentenced Yulia Prikhodko, a former employee of one of the capital’s MFCs, to three years in prison for fraudulent employment in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. The newspaper reports this “Kommersant” (“Kommersant”).
As can be seen from the case materials, Prikhodko managed to convince his friend that he had extensive connections in government and security structures. The fraudster promised to organize the appointment of a woman to work in the State Duma apparatus in exchange for a large reward and defrauded the victim of more than 6 million rubles. He is alleged to have coordinated his candidacy with intelligence services. Realizing that she had been deceived, the woman contacted law enforcement.
The investigation revealed that Prikhodko, merely an employee of the MFC, did not have any connections with power circles. The newspaper states that the case should have been completed quickly, but unexpected difficulties of a formal legal nature arose. Therefore, for a long time, the courts, the prosecutor’s office and the investigation could not decide in which court the fraud case committed by Prikhodko should be heard. And only after almost two years the case was transferred to the Meshchansky Court of the capital, which sentenced the fraudster to real imprisonment.
Kommersant’s sources in law enforcement emphasized that attempts to exchange government positions and titles occur quite often. Moreover, most of such offers come from scammers who do not offer job opportunities to the candidates.
Before reportedthat a resident of Chuvashia twice in a row became a victim of scammers and gave them 13 million rubles.
