Scientists from the Federal Scientific Center for Agricultural Engineering VIM (VIM Center) have developed a system for internal monitoring of the condition of cattle, working on the basis of real-time sensors. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation told socialbites.ca about this.

The system is based on the use of an electronic sensor. Using a special device, the “smart” device is administered to the cow orally into one of the four parts of the stomach and remains there throughout the cow’s life. This system transmits vital information about acid-base balance (pH), water consumption, body temperature and the animal’s physical activity.

These indicators are sent in real time over the internet to a base station on the farm and then to cloud storage. Users of the system (animal engineers, veterinarians and breeders) can access the tracked indicators of each animal from any device using special software.

According to scientists at the VIM Center, the sensor records current and visual information about the health and physiological state of the cows, their nutritional efficiency and estrus. Such 24-hour monitoring allows you to quickly make adjustments to the diet of animals, prevent metabolic acidosis, one of the most common diseases, and also monitor the approach to birth by analyzing its motor activity.

The system was launched into small-scale production and was successfully tested at Borodulinskoye LLC (Sverdlovsk region), Agricultural Production Complex “Plemzavod Maysky” (Vologda region), LLC Im. Timiryazev” (Republic of Tatarstan) and the largest dairy complex of the Kaliningrad region “Kashtanovka”.

Previously was created Silent massage bed against bedsores.
