President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed a law creating a mechanism for exempting participants of special military operations (SVO) from criminal liability on the territory of Ukraine. This was reported by TASS.

According to the new norms, criminal cases against those who were called up for mobilization or signed a contract with the RF Armed Forces will be suspended. This will be done by granting the person a state award or dismissal from military service due to health condition, age, termination of military service, mobilization or removal of martial law.

However, the mechanism will not work on people convicted of various crimes. Rape, terrorism, extremism, sabotage, etc. Those who are about to be tried or convicted of crimes will not be exempt from responsibility.
