Doctors from the Moscow Regional Center for Maternal and Child Health (MoCMCD) provided assistance to a seven-year-old child with a rare congenital intestinal disease. In this respect reports Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region.

A seven-year-old boy applied to the health institution with the complaint of constant constipation since birth. During the examination, doctors discovered that the little patient had Hirschsprung disease, a rare intestinal disease.

With this pathology, the rectum and sigmoid colon lack nerve nodes responsible for peristalsis, that is, the downward movement of intestinal contents. Pathology can lead to serious intoxication of the body.

“We decided to do laparoscopic surgery. During the intervention, we removed the affected part of the large intestine, reduced the healthy area and reconstructed the perineum,” said Professor Igor Poddubny, Doctor of Medical Sciences, pediatric surgeon of the Children’s Medical Medical Center.

On the tenth day after surgery, the child was discharged for outpatient treatment, bowel functions have fully recovered, the child remains under medical supervision on an outpatient basis.

Russian doctors had previously taken the child’s operating room gills.
