Scientists detect another dangerous consequence of COVID-19

British scientists concluded that there is a risk not only for physical but also for mental health after Covid-19. The results of the research were published in the journal Nature Human Behavior.

The researchers analyzed data from participants in the UK Biobank, which divided the subjects into three groups: those infected with SARS-CoV-2 (26,101 people), people without current infection (380,337) and a pre-pandemic control group (390,621 participants).

It turns out that those infected have a higher risk of experiencing mental health problems. This group is more susceptible to psychotic disorders, mood disorders, anxiety, alcohol use and sleep disorders than others.
