Diplomat and former Russian Ambassador to Malta Vladimir Malygin gave 30 million rubles to fraudsters. Telegram channel reports this plinth.

According to the Telegram channel, the 73-year-old diplomat received a call on March 13 from an unidentified person who allegedly introduced himself as the manager of the current banking supervision service. He persuaded Malygin to tell all his accounts and install a “special” application on his phone.

Over the next two days, the diplomat, following the fraudsters’ instructions, withdrew money from the accounts and sent them to the so-called “safe account”. The attackers then asked him to insert his SIM card into his wife’s phone, and 4 million rubles disappeared from his wife’s account. Moreover, the scammers persuaded the man to transfer all available money to the “employee”.

In total, the fraudsters managed to extract about 30 million rubles from the diplomat. The man contacted the police.
