Russians will be able to receive compensation from the State Services portal in case their personal data is leaked. This was reported by RIA News Senator Artem Sheikin.
The changes may come into force after the cyber insurance law is adopted. The senator announced that the RF Ministry of Digital Development will pay direct compensation for being the operator.
He noted that the Federation Council proposed mechanisms for assessing the security of organizations. Additionally, the organizations themselves were recommended to develop measures to ensure the liability of the organizations in favor of third parties in case of leakage of personal data.
“In the case of state entities, compensation in favor of citizens is also possible; these compensations can be paid either from the budget or from the financial resources of the direct culprit of the leak,” Sheikin concluded.
