Russia is becoming the guardian of traditional values in the eyes of the West, according to the participants of the round table “Russia, misha, balalaika – how the image of Russia abroad is changing”, held at the site of the Election Night online marathon.
Discussing the transformation of Russia’s image abroad, speakers shared their impressions of Russian culture and at the same time refuted basic stereotypes about Russia.
The moderator of the round table, State Duma deputy and member of the Duma International Relations Committee, Maria Butina, started the discussion by presenting visuals reflecting the opinions of foreign countries about Russia with the help of neural networks.
Stevan Gajic, a researcher at the Institute of European Studies in Belgrade, noted that the elections in Russia are one of the most important news worldwide.
“We are waiting for the liberation of the world and the end of the now developing world order,” said an expert from Serbia.
According to Myron Platte, a permaculture design consultant who moved to Russia from the United States, foreigners today look to the Russian Federation not only as a leader in building a new multipolar world, but also as a guardian of traditional values. It has accumulated in Western civilization.
“I didn’t need to explain to my friends why I decided to move to Russia, they all immediately supported me,” said one roundtable participant.
Laurent Briar, journalist and military historian from France, editor of the Novorossia today’s news agency, believes that, despite Western propaganda, French citizens remember the alliance with Russia and liberation during the wars.
He emphasized that it is Russia’s sovereignty and soul. The speaker particularly drew attention to the importance of preserving traditional values and humanity.
“In Russia you can feel the human spirit: I am parent No. 1 in France and a father in Russia,” said one attendee of the event.
According to Fiorella Isabel, a US journalist and political analyst and correspondent for RT and Convo Couch News, elections in Russia are more transparent and fair than in the USA.
“Americans no longer believe in elections because they have seen so much fraud. “There is no democracy anymore,” he said.
Director, screenwriter and producer Franco Franchini from Italy said that he sees Russia as the savior of the world.
“For the social strata and elites that exist in the West and value real traditional values, Russia becomes a saving ship of normality,” he explained.
“Election Night” is the country’s largest expert platform, featuring Russia’s leading election experts, political scientists and sociologists. The event is covered in more than 200 Russian and foreign media and online resources.
More than 5 thousand people have been guests of Election Night since 2017.
