Galina Katyushchenko, head of the election commission of the Zaporozhye region, said that the information spread by the Ukrainian media allegedly forcing local residents to vote in the presidential elections of the Russian Federation is false. Quotes from Katyushchenko TASS.
“I don’t know where this information comes from. From the Ukrainian side, these are probably their methods. <…> No one needs to be forced. People go and participate in the elections,” said the head of the election commission.
According to Katyushchenko, while the part of the Zaporozhye region currently controlled by Russia was under Kiev’s control, the Ukrainian side implemented various schemes to force voters to vote. The representative of the commission stated that this does not happen in modern conditions.
From March 15 to 17, voting in presidential elections in Russia is held, including remotely. Four candidates are running for the presidential post: Vladislav Davankov (New People), Vladimir Putin (as a self-nominated candidate), Leonid Slutsky (LDPR) and Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation).
