President Vladimir Putin said Russia has helped create nuclear energy from scratch in many foreign countries. Quoted RIA News.

According to the head of state, the Russian Federation is the world leader in the field of nuclear technology.

“With our aid in foreign countries, a whole industry is being created… almost from scratch,” Putin said via video conference at the groundbreaking ceremony of the nuclear island of the seventh power unit of the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant.

The President also stated that 99 percent of the above-mentioned areas in the country use domestic technologies.

He noted that Rosatom is currently building 22 power units in seven countries.

Putin reminded that in his message to the Federal Assembly he announced the launch of a number of national projects, including nuclear and energy technologies.

The Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant (LNPP) is the largest in Russia in terms of installed capacity. The first power unit went into operation in the USSR in 1973.

Previously Rosatom passed The second power unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant was put into commercial operation.
