Drinking energy drinks, including rarely (once a month), increases the risk of sleep problems. This was reported by health.com.

Scientists analyzed data from 53 thousand Norwegians aged between 18 and 35. 5% of men and 3% of women surveyed reported consuming energy drinks daily. Regardless of gender, people who drink energy drinks every day take longer to fall asleep. They also wake up more frequently during the night than those who occasionally or never drink energy drinks. Energy drink drinkers slept an average of 30 minutes less each night.

But people who drank energy drinks one to three times a month were more likely to have sleep problems than those who never drank energy drinks. This suggests a link between energy drink consumption and sleep problems, but does not prove that the drinks cause insomnia.

Experts told Health that you should only drink energy drinks early in the morning. It is better to avoid them, especially in combination with alcohol.
