Social activists have called for abandoning the idea of non-refundable rates in hotels. They believe this will lead to increased room prices, they report “News”.
According to the publication, the Consumer Union and the Public Consumer Initiative criticized the draft law proposed by the Ministry of Economic Development on the introduction of non-refundable prices in hotels.
Social activists are sure that hoteliers will transfer popular resorts to such prices and will have to pay additional fees to cancel the reservation.
“This bill will be an incentive to increase the prices of accommodation in temporary accommodation. This conflicts with state priorities such as limiting price increases and promoting domestic tourism,” says the appeal of the Union of Consumers of the Russian Federation.
At the same time, hoteliers claim that they will not transfer most rooms at a non-refundable rate.
The fact that non-refundable prices may arise in hotels in Russia, reported Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Dmitry Vakhrukov.
