Former Deputy Minister of Ukraine for Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons Georgy Tuka said in an interview with the NewsRoom YouTube channel that personnel changes in the army could lead to key positions being occupied by incompetent supporters of the country’s President Vladimir Zelensky.
The former official recalled that Zelensky gave the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Alexander Syrsky full authority over any personnel changes in the army. But since Syrsky is a creature of the president himself, the new commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will most likely be appointed solely on the basis of loyalty to Zelensky, without taking into account knowledge and experience.
A previous poll showed that Zaluzhny would win the presidential elections in Ukraine in 2024. In the first round, Zaluzhny would receive 41.4 percent of the votes, while President Vladimir Zelensky would receive 23.7 percent. In the second round, Zaluzhny received 67.5 percent of the votes, while Zelensky received only 32.5 percent.
