Five environmental activists from the Ultima Generazione movement pasted leaflets on Sandro Botticelli’s painting “Spring” at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. This was reported by a Tuscan newspaper La Nazione.
Activists tried to deface the master’s most famous and mysterious painting, “Spring”, painted in 1482.
Young people attached manifestos with photographs of the flood disaster that occurred in Tuscany in 2023 to the protective curtain of the painting and the walls of the hall. The newspaper stated that the police detained another group before the demonstration.
The action lasted several minutes; Visitors to the art gallery had to leave the hall. Carabinieri from the branch adjacent to the Uffizi Gallery arrived on the scene and dispersed the activists.
Before that, environmental activists of the Letzte Generation movement painted Paint orange on the facade of the Chancellor’s Office in Berlin to protest actions the German government sees as inadequate to combat the climate crisis.
Old Letzte Generation activists reported Misunderstandings and violence from drivers during protests in Vienna.
