If you have cardiovascular disease, drinking energy drinks may increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. In this respect “Izvestia” said Doctor of Medical Sciences Vladimir Neronov, gastroenterologist at the clinic of Academician Roitberg JSC “Medicine”.

Neronov explained that caffeine, glucose or sucrose is responsible for 99% of the effects of energy drinks.

“Excessive consumption of glucose leads to obesity, tooth decay and metabolic disorders. “Excessive amounts of caffeine cause increased heart rate, arrhythmia and anxiety,” the doctor warned.

Neronov added that energy changes are contraindicated for diseases of the cardiovascular system, as they can lead to heart attacks and strokes. It should also not be consumed by pregnant and breastfeeding women, children and adolescents, people with digestive system disorders and people with diabetes.

The doctor stated that “People with mental disorders should use energy drinks very carefully.”
