Two Moscow courts are simultaneously considering cases in which the main defendant is Dmitry Takhtaulov, former deputy head of the Department for Migration Issues (MDM) of the Moscow Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The newspaper reports this “Kommersant”.
The investigation and prosecutor’s office accuse the former high-ranking police officer of organizing the illegal immigration of 10 thousand foreign citizens to Russia. It was determined that the police lieutenant colonel and his relatives owned a lot of real estate, vehicles with prestigious foreign license plates and a large amount of cash. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office believes that Takhtaulov acquired this property through bribes and requests the seizure of the property.
The trial of Fokin and his three accomplices is being heard in Moscow’s Butyrsky and Preobrazhensky courts. They are accused by a group of people of organizing illegal immigration using their official positions.
The prosecutor’s office emphasized that Takhtaulov registered the property and cars obtained through crime in the names of his closest relatives: his mother, daughter and ex-wife. In particular, the total value of Takhtaulov’s mother’s assets exceeds 91 million rubles, despite the fact that her official income in recent years was only 1.1 million rubles.
