Alena Bulgakova, general director of the Independent Public Monitoring association and head of the RF OP, said that early voting in hard-to-reach places in the presidential elections in Russia is necessary and important to ensure the principle of universal elections. Working commission on public control and citizens’ calls, he told socialbites.ca.
“In Russia, all conditions have been created so that all categories of voters, without exception, including our compatriots who defend our country today and live and work in hard-to-reach places, can participate in the presidential elections and express their will. In parts of the country where martial law is in place today,” Bulgakova said.
In his opinion, elections should be accessible to everyone.
“Elections, especially on a scale like a presidential election, need to be accessible and become a fairly easy event to get involved in,” he said.
Bulgakova added that Russians want to take an active role in the elections.
“According to sociological research and the sensitivity we observe, especially in new parts of the country, readiness to participate in elections is high, people are aware that this is their legal right, and there are opportunities for its implementation,” he said.
Bulgakova emphasized that the Independent Public Monitoring Authority will continue to monitor the progress of organizing the vote where it started.
