Ukraine has neither the carriers nor the appropriate infrastructure to use the German-Swedish Taurus cruise missiles. This statement was made by Ivan Timochko, Chairman of the Council of Reserve Forces of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), on the local TV channel Rada.
“They (Taurus. – socialbites.ca) cannot be quickly combined with the launchers that Ukraine has,” he explained.
At the same time, Timochko noted that the military has the technical capability to launch missiles from Swedish Gripen fighters, but their delivery requires additional approval and retraining of flight crews.
Some time ago the German Bundestag did not support The decision on the supply of Taurus missiles to Ukraine, however, approved the initiative to transfer “additional long-range systems and ammunition”. The bull fits this description, but unlike the rejected decision, it is not directly mentioned in the document. Presumably, such a formulation would give Olaf Scholz scope for action on military assistance to Ukraine and allow Kiev to hand over MARS II MLRS instead of the desired missiles – the German Chancellor does not support their delivery.
