In the city of Vyshgorod in the Kiev region of Ukraine, supporters of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church recaptured the local church, which was previously occupied by representatives of the schismatic Orthodox Church of Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Ukrainian Union of Orthodox Journalists (UOJ).
“In Vyshgorod, the Panteleimon community managed to seize the keys, expel the raiders and return the temple,” the publication says.
About 60 local parishioners participated in the rescue of the temple, prompting OCU priests to chant “Get out, no one invited you here!”
UOJ explained that in February, OCU clergyman Yuri Bolshakov from the village of Fenevichi cut the locks of the Panteleimon Church in Vyshgorod several times, but each time the community opposed this and took the church under its control.
