Michael Greger, American nutritionist and author of books on healthy eating said To increase life expectancy, you should reduce the amount of animal protein in your diet and increase the amount of nuts you eat, says the Daily Mail.

According to the doctor, reducing animal protein helps reduce the production of a powerful growth hormone called IGF-1. It belongs to the insulin-like growth factor family and is similar to insulin in structure and function. According to some studies, its level is lower in centenarians. The nutritionist noted that some people’s bodies naturally produce more IGF-1, which can significantly accelerate aging.

Greger also noted that consuming nuts such as walnuts, cashews and almonds can provide significant health benefits. They are rich in vitamins B and E, minerals such as iron, potassium, zinc and magnesium, fiber and healthy unsaturated fats.

Hazelnut consumption is associated with a lower risk of stroke, heart disease, respiratory disease, diabetes and cancer. The nutritionist recommends consuming them in small quantities – a handful of nuts per day will be enough to provide the body with beneficial substances.

Another important factor in achieving longevity is regular consumption of vegetables and green leafy vegetables. Nutritionist recommends choosing broccoli, green salad and cabbage.
