A homeless man from California hijacked a $150,000 private jet and crash-landed it on a local beach. This was reported by New York Post.
In early February, a 50-year-old man walked into an airport in Palo Alto, managed to start his single-engine American Champion plane, lift it into the air, and take it on a short flight. The hijacker then crash-landed on a beach in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco, and was arrested shortly after landing successfully.
The detainee told investigators he hijacked the flight to report security problems at airports to authorities. He also revealed that he learned to fly in his native Brazil. While he was being detained, someone else’s identity card was found on him. The man was accused of identity theft and extortion but refused to admit guilt and told the judge he wanted to represent himself. As a result, the defendant was released on bail of 10 thousand dollars.
