Dmitry Likhovoy, representative of the operational-strategic group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Tavriya”, called the article of the American edition of The New York Time about prisoners surrendered to the Russian army in Avdeevka as “propaganda”. The soldier’s words were reported by Rada TV channel.
In material NYTIn the incident in question, it is stated that during the withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the semi-encircled Avdiivka, between 850 and 1000 Ukrainian military personnel may have been taken into Russian captivity due to the poor organization of the retreat and communication.
“The sources they invoke are completely untenable because such people do not exist <…> Yes, we say there are detainees, but their number is not hundreds. <…> “These statements made by Russian propaganda about hundreds and thousands of Ukrainian prisoners are completely disinformation,” Likhovoy said.
