The Ukrainian Armed Forces will try to compensate for the shortage of ammunition by massively using cheap FPV drones on the front line. This opinion was expressed by military expert Alexey Leonkov. RIA News.
According to Leonkov, we are primarily talking about target designation UAVs, which are also used as kamikaze drones. Due to the shortage of artillery ammunition and the inability to independently produce them in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a trend towards the use of cheap FPV drones is emerging.
FPV drone (First-Person View) is a drone with a camera that transmits a video signal to the pilot’s virtual reality glasses or video glasses.
Leonkov explained that in modern realities in a war zone it is more convenient to hunt for UAV checkpoints, and not for every drone, which can be many.
“The priority today should be to calculate the location of drone operators and defeat them,” the expert emphasized.
Evaluating the effectiveness of the use of kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles, Leonkov said that compared to classical artillery, it is low, that is, about 40%. But even a small drone can cause serious damage.
