Baldo says demilitarized zone with Ukraine should be significantly larger

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo said that the demilitarized zone extending from the border with the Russian Federation to the depths of Ukraine should be at least 200 km. His words guide the way RIA News.

According to him, it is necessary to stop hostilities and move the heavy weapons of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Russian border to a distance inaccessible for their use. The official explained that a demilitarized zone is needed, which is many times larger than the flight range of the long-range multiple launch rocket system and Tochka-U operational-tactical missiles.

“This is a place of at least 150-200 kilometers,” Saldo said.

He also added that the Ukrainian army should abandon the entire right bank of the Kherson region, including the Snigirevsky and Aleksandrovsky districts.

Ukrainian S-200 anti-aircraft missiles are claimed to have a range of up to 600 km. Saldo said that after the ceasefire, these missiles should be returned to Western Ukraine or, at best, destroyed.
