Researchers from Karolinska University in Sweden found that low-calorie drinks containing caffeine may be a good way to lose weight. Scientific works of scientists published In the journal BMJ Medicine.

Scientists analyzed the health indicators of 10 thousand people, some of whom had type 2 diabetes and were overweight. Data analysis showed that drinking four cups of coffee without milk or sugar a day had a positive effect on body mass index and reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. According to the authors, this may be due to the fact that it contains many micronutrients and antioxidants that are beneficial to metabolism. These include potassium, magnesium, niacin and others.

However, scientists could not detect a link between caffeine levels and the risk of cardiovascular disease. However, in the future, the authors plan to conduct several more studies on a larger sample to confirm their results.

Previous scientists refuted effectiveness of a popular type of dietary supplement.
