The special military operations working group expects to reach a decision in the spring on giving soldiers the right to use existing compulsory health insurance policies during the holidays. This was announced by the chairman of the working group, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Andrei Turchak, in St. This was stated at a meeting with wives of military personnel in St. Petersburg. According to him, this measure will create a “seamless transition” between military and civilian medicine.
“The problem of “seamless transition” between civilian and departmental hospitals has not yet been fully resolved. It has been moved but is in “manual mode” for now. We hope that we will reach a systemic solution in the spring,” emphasized the head of the working group on SVO issues.
Andrei Turchak noted that the “seamless transition” between military and civilian medicine would help solve a number of problems, including the provision of information by hospitals to relatives of the wounded, problems with rehabilitation and determining whether soldiers are fit for service.
In addition, issues such as the return of those mobilized from the front due to having many children, the obligation to care for a disabled child, discharge due to health reasons or reaching the age limit were also brought up at the meeting.
Issues regarding holidays and payments were also raised.
Andrey Turchak emphasized that existing support measures for SVO participants and their families constitute a comprehensive system of social protection and assistance.
“But sometimes they do not take into account various everyday situations, personal circumstances that do not always allow the use of these support measures. In such cases, we will propose legislative changes or adjustments to regulatory documents,” Turchak concluded.
The working group on SVO issues, chaired by Andrey Turchak, was created by order of the president in December 2022. This board included representatives of both houses of the federal parliament and all parliamentary parties, the Ministry of Defense, leaders of public organizations and leading war correspondents.
