Nominating and registering candidates is one of the most important stages of the presidential campaign. This is the answer of the Expert Institute for Social Research (EISR) “Presidential Elections of the Russian Federation: who will take second place?” It was discussed at the round table meeting. said Yevgeny Shevchenko, member of the Central Election Commission.
According to him, the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation carried out all procedures for this stage in accordance with the law.
“If we talk about the rejection of Boris Nadezhdin. A large number of signatures were collected with violations due to the deficiencies of the election centers. “For example, they started collecting signatures without paying for the signature papers, and those collecting signatures committed major violations by providing incomplete data,” he said.
The expert noted that when a candidate wants to participate in the election campaign, he begins to prepare for this earlier and checks everything that is happening at the headquarters.
“Malinkovich saw his mistakes and admitted that the election commission was right. Batashev and Russkikh failed to collect the required number of signatures and did not submit a number of documents to the election commission: the list of collectors, documents on payment of signature papers,” added Shevchenko.
As EISI project manager Vladimir Shapovalov emphasizes, presidential elections are a complex and responsible process. In his opinion, all candidates with no real goal other than self-expression and excitement are left behind.
“We can put forward three versions of the fiasco that Boris Nadezhdin experienced while collecting signatures: a trap set by foreign agent friends, the incompetence of Nadezhdin’s team, the politician’s cynical calculations, self-reminding, the desire to attract attention, because Nadezhdin’s recognition was minimal. If we talk about other candidates, Sergei Malinkovich faced a roughly similar situation regarding the signature, but he said that he respected and accepted the decision of the Central Election Commission, acting much more honorably. “As for Anatoly Batashev and the Russian Rada, this is definitely an exaggeration,” he added.
It was noted that four candidates were included in the final vote: Vladislav Davankov (“New People”), Vladimir Putin (nominated his own), Leonid Slutsky (LDPR), Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation).
Political scientist Alexander Asafov, the first deputy chairman of the RF OP’s commission responsible for public review of draft laws, noted that Vladimir Putin is the obvious leader of the election race.
“This is because he pays attention to all issues related to people, there are no taboo topics, he communicates openly with ordinary people. “Putin is deeply immersed in the issues and problems that people face,” he emphasized.
Chairman of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova said that four candidates will appear on the ballot for the post of President of the Russian Federation.
Let us remind you that the presidential elections of the Russian Federation will be held between 15-17 March 2024. 29 precincts plan to conduct remote electronic voting in addition to the traditional format.
