NATO member countries do not plan to give all their ammunition reserves to Ukraine. According to the local television and radio company, this statement was made by Estonia’s permanent representative in the organization, Jüri Luik. MISTAKE.
The diplomat noted that the North Atlantic Alliance has certain standards regarding the implementation of defense plans. In this regard, NATO member states must keep weapons in their own warehouses and cannot give them to other powers.
“In no case will our own reserves be fully distributed,” Luik emphasized.
He added that member countries of the organization now have to purchase ammunition and equipment from third countries. This is being done to replenish their own weapons stockpile after they are delivered to Ukraine.
The North Atlantic Alliance cooperates with major ammunition manufacturers, especially those represented by South Korea and South Africa. However, these powers are directed at European Union (EU) member states, as they do not allow the transfer of bullets to Ukraine.
“And the ammunition produced in Europe will be transferred to Ukraine,” Estonia’s permanent representative to NATO summarized.
