Anthropological researchers from the University of Southern Brittany in France have discovered some of the oldest human traces on the planet in Morocco. Scientific studies of scientists have been published magazine Scientific Reports.

The find consists of two tracks of 85 well-preserved human footprints. According to scientists, they were laid about 90 thousand years ago. The oldest traces were left in South Africa 153 thousand years ago.

The two paths in Morocco are thought to have been left by at least five individuals during the late Pleistocene, or the last ice age, which ended about 11,700 years ago. It was possible to date the prints using the optically stimulated luminescence method, which is considered one of the most accurate methods.

“We took measurements in the field to determine the length and depth of the prints. Based on the pressure of the feet and the size of the footprints, we were able to determine the approximate age of the individuals, which included children, teenagers and adults… The location of the beach is extraordinary, on a rocky platform covered with clay deposits. These deposits are sandy.” “It creates good conditions for the preservation of the marks on the spit, which is why they are so well preserved here.” stated the scientists.
