South Korean Army reported North Korea I launched a few cruise missiles today around the Yellow Sea (called the West Sea in both Koreas), i.e. fourth such test in the last ten days.

“Our military detected a large number of cruise missiles of an unidentified type launched into the West Sea by North Korea at around 11:00 (2:00 GMT) today, Friday, February 2, and was informed by Republic of Korea intelligence officials (name official South) and South’s Chiefs of Staff (Chiefs of Staff of the South) “The United States is conducting a detailed analysis,” JCS) said in a statement.

This Friday is the fourth such test in the last ten days, after the tests carried out with Pulhwasal-3-31 and Hwasal-2 cruise missiles on January 24, 28 and 30. both on the coast of the Yellow Sea and on the coast of the Sea of Japan (referred to as the East Sea in both Koreas), from where the launch was supposedly carried out from a submarine. Experts believe that Pulhwasal could be a new version of Hwasal and the number 31 would indicate this They can carry tactical nuclear warheads Hwasan-31 (‘Volcano-31’), whose existence was first revealed last year.

Although North Korea’s cruise missile launches are not punishable under UN sanctions, their low altitude and maneuverability make them a difficult weapon to stop.

Today’s weapons test coincides with North Korean media coverage of leader Kim Jong-un’s visit to Nampho shipyards (west coast), where ships for the Navy are built. Kim stated that “For the reliable defense of maritime sovereignty, the most important issue is the strengthening of naval forces.” The field marshal’s remarks came just days after he highlighted progress in supplying the Navy with nuclear weapons, saying: after elimination South as his country’s arch-enemy and will assess that Pyongyang “cannot tolerate” the drawing of the so-called Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the Yellow Sea, confirming that compromise between both neighbors is now impossible. The NLL, drawn by the United Nations to prevent new conflicts after the armistice agreement that ended the Korean War in 1953, is rejected by North Korea, which argues that the division line should be further south.

The North Korean regime held artillery drills with the NLL in early January, prompting Seoul to hold military drills. evacuation warnings will respond with live fire on border islands and with its own maneuvers.
