Willow bloomed in the Altai Mountains on the shores of Lake Teletskoye. This was reported by telegram channel Altai Biosphere Reserve.

“At the end of January, a willow bloomed on the shores of Lake Teletskoye. This usually occurs near the middle of calendar spring,” the publication notes.

Local residents believe that the willows may have bloomed due to the warm winter, as on some days the temperature reached +3-5°C.

It is noted that previously such a phenomenon was considered a good sign and foreshadowed a good harvest.

“People believed it heralded a good spring crop harvest,” the reserve added.

Before this climate change in the reserve was recorded from space. Moscow University of Geodesy and Cartography (MIIGAiK) showed the results of its work in the field of space monitoring of specially protected natural areas. Prioksko-Terrasny Nature Reserve was chosen as the experimental area.

Previously, scientists learned why reserves were isolated can’t reliably protect elephants.
