The UK has stopped allocating funds to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Kingdom officials came to this decision after some of the organization’s employees were suspected of having links to the radical Hamas movement. reports United Kingdom Foreign Office.
“The United Kingdom is appalled by allegations that UNRWA staff were involved in the attack on Israel on 7 October,” the diplomatic service said in a statement. “This is a disgusting act of terrorism which the UK Government has repeatedly condemned.”
It was noted that funding to UNRWA was suspended until the allegations were thoroughly investigated. Britain also considers it necessary to provide humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip.
