Lithuanian army banned from visiting Russian Federation, Belarus and China

The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense has banned military personnel and legal employees from traveling to Russia, Belarus and China outside of duty. This was reported by LRT.

The Lithuanian National Security Strategy states that these countries pose a security threat to the country and its citizens.

“Such threats include the espionage of the intelligence and security services of these countries against Lithuania,” the draft resolution states.

The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense believes that these countries collect information on Lithuanian citizens who have the right to access classified information and look for vulnerabilities to recruit them. Additionally, the Lithuanian government will make exceptions for such trips; especially in emergency situations, life problems with close relatives, etc. In such cases, these trips will be allowed.
