The Juche-107 self-propelled artillery mount (SPG), developed in North Korea and called M2018 among Western experts, was equipped with a 155 mm caliber gun. This was reported by “Russian newspaper”.
These weapons were unveiled at a military parade in September 2018 in honor of the 70th anniversary of the founding of North Korea. But for a long time the features of these facilities were hidden from the public, so experts had to draw conclusions based only on their appearance.
RG noted that a new video from M2018 recently appeared on the internet. In the images, you see the sign indicating the name and caliber of the guns mounted on the self-propelled guns. It turned out that North Korean developers equipped the facilities with 155 mm caliber guns. A similar decision was previously made in China, where PLZ-45 howitzers received similar projectiles. The latter was in demand in Algeria, Saudi Arabia, North Korea and some other countries.
According to experts, M2018 is heavier howitzer than other North Korean models. Experts also assumed that the facilities were equipped with shells of caliber from 122 to 152 mm. It was also reported that these self-propelled guns have ballistic radars and can hit with active reactive ammunition. Their range probably exceeds 40 thousand meters.
Previously in North Korea took place testing of underwater nuclear weapons.
