ENT doctor of the highest category, candidate of medical sciences Vladimir Zaitsev, said that snoring can lead to heart attack and stroke. He mentioned this in a radio interview Sputnik.

The doctor stated that loud snoring during sleep is a signal that the brain is not receiving enough oxygen. When a person snores, his brain is not ventilated because he breathes through his throat, and such ventilation only occurs when breathing through the nose. For this reason, the snorer may wake up tired and dizzy the next morning. His metabolic processes are disrupted, he begins to gain weight and his blood pressure increases.

Popov emphasized that the risk of heart attack and stroke as a result of such processes is very high.

Snoring can have various causes: swelling of the nasal mucosa, deviation of the nasal septum, overeating in the evening and even a runny nose.

Popov noted that to get rid of snoring, sometimes you just need to rinse the sinuses, nasal cavity and nasopharynx, thereby relieving inflammation and swelling.
