Beer “Zhigulevskoye” will disappear from the list of products produced at the Umanpivo factory in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine. Ukrainian TV channel Hromadske wrote about this on its Telegram channel.
The TV channel, citing the marketing department of the plant, reported that the plant will continue to produce the same type of beer without changing the recipe, but its name will be changed to “Venskoe” (Ukrainian Videnske). The reason for the renaming was the desire to “get rid of the Russian-Soviet past”.
Umanpivo believes in the claim that the “Zhigulevskoe” recipe was once developed by Austrian brewers and that the name “Vienskoe” is more correct and original.
