US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said the Houthis should reduce tensions in the Red Sea. This was reported by TASS.

“De-escalation needs to happen, and it needs to come from the Houthis who are endangering our shipping routes,” Thomas-Greenfield said.

Thus, he commented on the US attitude at the UN Security Council meeting convened at the initiative of Russia regarding the attacks against Yemen.

Formerly Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya statedHe said the attacks on Yemen were a clear violation of the UN Charter.

The Russian diplomat said that the White House’s justification for the attack was untenable. At the same time, as Nebenzya said, the attacks on Yemen have nothing to do with the right to self-defense, since Article 51 of the UN Charter does not apply to the situation in commercial courts.
