A decrease in blood lead levels can cause a decrease in systolic blood pressure of approximately 7 mmHg. Art. cited a study published in the journal JAHA.

285 Native American adults from five states participated in the experiment. The patients’ blood lead levels were measured between 1997 and 1999 and then again between 2006 and 2009. The mean blood lead level at the start of the study was 2.04 μg/dL. In the following years, it decreased by 33% to 0.67 μg/dL. Moreover, the lower the lead level, the lower the patient’s blood pressure.

But some participants had higher-than-average lead levels. If they were able to reduce it by 55%, there was a 7 mmHg drop in systolic blood pressure. Art., significantly reduces the risk of heart attack and heart failure. This effect is comparable to improvements achieved by increasing daily activity to 30 minutes, reducing salt intake, or losing weight.

“We found that even small reductions in human blood lead levels can lead to important health consequences,” the authors said.

Scientists concluded that reducing lead exposure by reducing the concentration of lead compounds in paints, gasoline and water could be an effective method of combating hypertension at the population level.

Previous scientists to create A device that can reduce the risk of death by 25%.
