Pentagon plans to investigate circumstances of Austin’s hospitalization

Pentagon Inspector General Robert Storch said he plans to investigate the circumstances surrounding the hospitalization of US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin. This was reported by RIA News.

It was noted that the purpose of the investigation was to “examine the roles, processes, procedures, responsibilities and actions related to the hospitalization of the Minister of Defense”.

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin in December 2023 defined early stage prostate cancer. The minister underwent surgery that led to complications – he was rushed to hospital with a urinary tract infection in early January. US President Joe Biden and other American officials learned of the diagnosis just days after the Pentagon chief was hospitalized.

Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder statedIt was stated that US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is in good condition in the hospital.

Lloyd Austin is 70 years old. He headed the Pentagon in January 2021.
