The deputy head of the Barnaul administration in charge of roads and transport was detained on suspicion of particularly large-scale bribery. This has been reported press service Investigative Committee.
According to the ministry, in 2020, the suspect received a bribe of 2 million rubles from an entrepreneur providing passenger transportation services through an intermediary.
According to the agreements, for a “fee” the businessman was assisted in the enterprises he managed and was also given the opportunity to transport passengers on selected routes, despite the lack of suitable city buses.
The crime was discovered by operational officers of the Altai District Directorate of Russia’s FSB.
Investigators and FSB officers searched the suspect’s place of residence and work. As a result, he was detained. In the near future, investigators will submit a petition to the court for the imposition of preventive measures against the official in the form of detention.
The ministry added that a criminal case for bribery has also been opened against the person who gave the bribe.
