The Czech government will reduce the participation of its military personnel in foreign missions in 2024. This was announced by the press secretary of the Chief of General Staff of the country’s army, Vlastimila Kiprisova. RIA News.
As a representative of the republic’s troops said, Czech soldiers are currently serving in 14 foreign missions. This includes missions in the Middle East and Kosovo.
Moreover, according to the statement, the state’s military personnel are in the Mediterranean region. According to Kiprisova, they confront smugglers here and prevent illegal immigrants from moving from Africa to European countries.
“The overall reduction in the number of participants in foreign missions in 2024 will occur due to the reduction of the NATO contingent in Slovakia, where the Czech Republic will hand over command to the Spanish by the end of June, from 450 to 200 people. year,” the spokesperson explained.
He also added that a Czech mechanized company and a logistics support unit will remain in Slovakia. In addition, representatives from Prague will continue to work at the international center on the territory of the state.
Finally, Kiprisova emphasized that Czech instructors will take an active role in the training of soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) this year. Training will take place both on the territory of the republic and abroad.
