The Ukrainian Neptune missile, shot down by Russian air defense systems in the sky over the Black Sea, was supposed to hit the ships of the Russian Navy. Comments about this “tapes.ru” stated military expert and captain of the first rank of the reserve Vasily Dandykin.
According to the expert, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) use such projectiles only to destroy very important objects. He explained that this was all due to their small numbers.
“I think if (the missile – socialbites.ca) is anti-ship, it means they intend to use it against one of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet. However, in principle, it can fire not only at ships but also at land,” Dandykin said.
The expert added that Neptune is an anti-ship missile with a flight range of more than 200 kilometers. As the expert said, Kiev received these bullets back in 2018 and has already used them in the conflict zone.
Dandykin nevertheless emphasized that Russian air defense systems are adapting to the elimination of such missiles. Moreover, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have their own analogues of Neptune missiles for the Uran complex.
Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on the afternoon of January 5 reported About the destruction of the Ukrainian Neptune rocket in the skies over the Black Sea. According to the ministry, the bullet was detected at 12:30 Moscow time.
Previously in Crimean airspace was shot 36 Ukrainian aircraft.
