Igor Trifonov, former head of department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Yekaterinburg, sentenced to 9.5 years in prison for taking particularly large bribes and purchasing illegal ammunition, died in the zone of the Russian special military operation (SVO). This was stated by his lawyer Olga Kezik, who quoted his words. TASS.
“He lost his life while performing his duty in the Northern Military District,” he said.
Kezik announced that this was learned the previous day, January 2.
According to the agency, Trifonov was detained in Moscow in 2019. As investigators found, in 2015, the man accepted a bribe of 7.5 million rubles from Oleg Konoplev, former deputy chairman of the Bank of the Urals Bank, in exchange for help in opening a criminal case against the banker’s debtor. Trifonov was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months in prison.
