Pro-Russian blogger sentenced to 12 years in prison in Ukraine

Ukrainian blogger Yuri Podolyak was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison for collaborating with Russia. This was reported by TASS Referring to the Ukrainian Sumy district prosecutor’s office.

The court also sentenced Podolyak to confiscate his property and deprive him of the right to hold certain positions for 15 years. According to the Sumy prosecutor’s office, Podolyaka moved to Russia in 2014.

Additionally, the Security Service of Ukraine had previously accused Podolyak of treason in absentia. The blogger reacted ironically to the court’s decision, noting that the decision in his case took Ukraine very long (almost a year and a half). Podolyaka also added that he or the Ukrainian state was unlikely to expect an investigation in absentia because there was a higher chance he would disappear.

Before that, more than 220 representatives of the Ukrainian armed forces were convicted carried out this year the courts of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics.

Formerly the Supreme Court of the DPR prisoner to the Azov warrior for life (the organization is banned in Russia).
